Maintenance

WARNING: Always disconnect from power supply before carrying out any
maintenance/cleaning.

Cleaning

• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts

to wear quickly, and shorten the machine’s service life. Clean the body of
your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean, dry,
compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes

Brushes

• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure,

or visible sparking

• To replace the brushes, remove the brush access plugs from both sides

of the machine. Remove the worn brushes and replaced with new.
Replace brush access plugs. Alternatively, have the machine serviced at
an authorised service centre

Storage

• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of reach of children

Disposal

• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic

equipment, with household waste

• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct

way to dispose of tools

Operating Instructions

Operating the collet

1. Open Collet (1) by depressing the Spindle Lock Button (3), and rotating

the collet nut anti-clockwise (it may be necessary to use the supplied
collet spanner to loosen the collet)

2. Place the accessory required in the collet
3. Depress the spindle lock button and rotate the collet nut clockwise to

secure the accessory

WARNING: Never fit any attachment with a maximum speed lower than the
no load speed of the machine.

Switching on and off

1. Start the hobby tool by moving the On/Off Switch (5) into the '1'

position

2. To stop the tool move the switch into the '0' position
3. Use the Speed Control Dial (4) is used to control the rotation speed.

The higher the number on the dial the faster the spindle rotates

Handling

• Hold the tool securely, keeping hands well away from rotating parts. For

most purposes, it is most convenient to grip the tool like a pencil

• Practice using the tool with scrap material before starting a job. Be aware

that different accessories will require different techniques, and may
require different speed settings

• Applying excess pressure does not result in faster or more efficient

performance. If the pressure applied to the tool has a noticeable effect on
the speed of the tool then reduce the pressure. Overloading the tool will
reduce its service life

• Always ensure that material is secure. If appropriate use a vice or clamp

to hold the work
