General Description
The RST200 / PST200 system allows one or more users to remotely control the basic dispatch PTT function of the
Westinghouse 1000 handset. This allows the satellite terminal to be in a location convenient for antenna placement yet
remain accessible to the user for basic transmit and receive functions.

Controls and Indicators
The remotes feature a PTT handset, speaker with volume control, intercom button, privacy button and several LED
indicators.
The Intercom button, when depressed, allows the use of the handset to communicate with other desksets without
affecting the satellite terminal.
The Privacy button, when depressed, allows the operator to communicate with a field unit while muting all parallel
desksets. The parallel desksets will remain muted until the privacy feature is disengaged.

Note: The Privacy feature is

not enabled when shipped. To be enabled internal jumper E2 must be installed.
The red PTT indicator will illuminate when any deskset is keyed. Control functions (PTT, Privacy and Intercom) on all
parallel remotes are disabled while the PTT indicator is illuminated.
The yellow In Use indicator is not used on the RST200.
The green Talk indicator tracks the "UR ON" message on the 1000 series handset.

Operation
The deskset is in the receive mode with the speaker active as soon as power is applied.
Incoming calls are indicated by speaker audio as well as the In Use indicator.
To respond to a call, lift the hand set from the cradle; speaker audio is switched to the earpiece. Depress the PTT bar of
the handset and hold it down. You may begin speaking when the green Talk indicator is illuminated and the appropriate
status tones have been heard in the earpiece. Continue to hold down the PTT bar while speaking, release to listen.

Installation
The PST200 connects to the Westinghouse handset jack on the 1000 series unit. The Westinghouse 1000 series
handset plugs in to the "MICROPHONE" jack of the PST200. NOTE: The Westinghouse 1000 series handset must be
out of the hangup cradle for the RST/PST system to function properly.
NOTE: The ability to use the satellite terminal directly is lost while configured for remote operation. For maintenance
functions the PST200 may be unplugged from the Westinghouse unit so receive audio can be heard at the satellite
terminal.
The RST200 deskset connects to the "To Remotes" jack on the rear of the PST200 via a single voice grade pair (in
house wiring). As many as fifty desksets may be connected in parallel to a single PST200.
A diagram of a typical system is illustrated on the back page. This is a RST/PST system drawing for the Mitsubishi
radio. Please refer to instructions below for the Westinghouse RTS/PST200 system.
Instructions - These instructions assume that you have a Westinghouse 1000 series installed and operating
correctly. If you don't please correct these problems before attempting to install the RST/PST.

Power down the Westinghouse unit and unplug the handset from the handset jack, leaving the handset out of the cradle.
Using the supplied 8 conductor cable with modular ends plug one side into the handset jack of the 1000 and the other
into the RADIO jack on the PST200. Plug the 1000 series handset into the MIC jack on the PST200. (handset must be
kept out of the cradle) Connect the RST200 remote to the back of the PST200 unit. Install a shorting pin form pins x to
x on the GPS/CTRL on the 1000 series. This keeps the unit powered up at any time power is supplied to the 1000
series unit. The power control on the 1000 handset is not used with this system installed. Power the Westing house
unit up. The handset should read just like it would when normally connected to the system but can not be used to
transmit once the RST/PST unit is installed. The RST/PST system can now be used following the above operation
instructions.
