• If you are replacing a drive cage, do the following:

a. Remove the 2.5-inch drives from the failing drive cage. Then, remove the fan assembly that is

installed near the drive cage. See “Installing or replacing a hot-swap drive” on page 33 and
“Replacing the fan assembly” on page 42.

b. Remove the screws

. Then, pull the failing drive cage out of the chassis.

3. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new drive cage to any unpainted surface on the

outside of the storage array. Then, remove the new drive cage from the package.

4. Note the orientation of the new drive cage and slide it into the chassis until it snaps into position. Then,

install the screws

to secure the drive cage to the chassis.
