Output-bin parameters

The Output Bins page enables you to change the parameters for
the output bin, output-bin mapping to IPDS bin numbers, and
finishing operations.

Description

Output Bins

Enables you to define the output bins. Output bins include
a standard output bin—in which the paper typically lies
facedown—and any other standard or optional output bins
attached to the printer. For each output bin, you can create
a binary selection string, a before string, and after strings.
The selection string is often mandatory.

Name

Enables you to edit the name of the output bin. Assigning a
name is mandatory.

Selection

Enables you to specify a selection string. This is
mandatory with one exception - If you have only one bin
defined you can leave the selection field blank and the job
will be sent to the printer's own default bin.

Before

The Before string sets special attributes for a bin. The
Before string is activated immediately before the
Selection string.

After

The After string restores the printer's normal default bin
selection. The After string is activated immediately before
the next IPDS bin selection, at host disconnection, or when
the IPDS job timeout limit is reached. You should use an
After string on each bin for which you use a Before string.
Ensure that the After string restores the printer's normal
default bin selection.

Offset Stacker

Enables you to select whether to enable the host to use an
offset stacker, also known as a jogger.

Language

If you define a Selection String, Before string, or After
string, you can either use the current language or PJL.

Output Bin
Mappings

The list of mappings between IPDS Bin IDs and the output
bin names defined for the physical output bins. In various
IPDS products, this function is known by several different
names, such as Target Mapping and Map Output Bins.
Configuration is independent of printer language.

Output Bin

The pull-down list is populated with the bins defined in the
Output Bins block on this configuration page.

IPDS Bin Number

Identifies a host output target (also known as the IPDS Bin
ID) and enables you to type an appropriate number. You
may need to consult the documentation for the IPDS
application or job. Any IPDS Bin Number can be mapped
to any physical Output Bin.

Finishing
Operations

Enables you to define the finishing options.
