I NTERFACES
Write security: Config; Read security: Status
Displays either the type of module currently installed in
the slot or the type of module you plan to install in the
slot. If an Total Access 850 DSX-1 Module is installed,
the
T YPE field automatically defaults to DSX card.
C ONFIG
Displays additional configuration menus for the select-
ed module. To access the submenus for this item, use
the arrow keys to scroll to the
C ONFIG column for the
module you want to edit, then press Enter . For detailed
information on each submenu item, see Total Access 850
DSX-1 Module Config Options on page 3.
Total Access 850 DSX-1 Module Config Options
The following sections describe the menus options:
C ONFIG AND T EST .
C ONFIG
Write security: Config; Read security: Status
Allows users to provision the following options for
the DSX-1 interface.
F ORMAT
This sets the frame format for the T1 interface. The
setting must match the frame format of the circuit to
which the interface is connected. Choices are ESF
and SF. Extended Superframe (ESF) provides a non-
disruptive means of full-time monitoring on the fa-
cility datalink (FDL). Default is ESF.
Configuration Path: INTERFACES (DSX-1) > CON-
FIG > FORMAT)
L INE C ODE
This sets the line code for the T1 interface. The set-
ting must match the line code of the circuit to which
the interface is connected. Choices are B8ZS (bipolar
with 8-zero substitution) and AMI (alternate mark
inversion). Default is B8ZS.

FIG > LINE CODE
T EST
Write security: Voice; Read security: Status
Initiates different types of tests and displays test re-
sults. This menu includes the following submenu:
L OC LB
L OC LB
Write security: V OICE ; Read security: S TATUS
Causes line loopback (LB) on the near-end (local)
port. The following options are available:
• L INE
- metallic loopback
• P AYLD
- payload loopback; regenerates framing
and clocking
• N ONE
- default setting which means no loopback
R UN S ELF -T EST
To run a self-test on the module, go to the S YSTEM U TILITY
menu and select R UN S ELF - TEST
. This menu allows you
to run individual self-tests on all modules.
5. SPECIFICATIONS
Each port of the Total Access 850 DSX-1 Module con-
forms to the following specifications:
If a module is installed, I NTERFACES auto-
matically displays the name of the
installed module. To change this name,
remove the installed module, set
I NTER -
FACES to E MPTY and then select another
module.
SF is equivalent to the D4 frame format.
Contact ADTRAN Technical Support to
enable this feature.
When activated, these test command will
temporarily disrupt service.
