Using the computer for the first time

The first time you turn on the computer, your Windows operating system
setup installs the devices it finds in your system.
To help you get started, the operating system then guides you through
several steps for completing your computer’s setup.

Turning on the computer for the first time

When you turn on the computer for the first time, don’t turn off the power
again until the operating system has loaded completely.

1. Check that the floppy disk drive and CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive are

empty.

2. If you have a local printer connected to the computer, turn on the

printer and wait until it indicates that it is ready (on line).

3. Turn on the monitor.
4. Turn on the power switch on the back of the computer, next to the AC

connector.

5. Locate the Power button and press it to turn on the computer.
The power light glows green when the computer is on.
The drive-access light indicates that the hard disk drive is currently in
use.

Never turn off the computer while any of the drives are in use.
