BEFORE YOU BEGIN
IMPORTANT: The Poison Spyder Customs TJ

Rear Bumper Brace Kit comes as unpainted,

bare steel. You will want to either powder coat

or paint the bumper prior to final installation,

however it is recommended to completely install

and remove the bumper prior to painting or

powder coating it. This will allow you to check

for fitment or do any clearancing or fitting ahead

of time, to reduce the chance of damage to the

finish during final installation. Poison Spyder

Customs Inc. is not responsible for costs for or

damage to paint or powder coat finish under any

circumstances, including paint or powder coat of

incorrectly shipped or defective parts.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: It is assumed that this item is being

installed in conjunction with a Poison Spyder or

other manufacturer’s aftermarket bumper, that

the OE bumper has already been removed, and

that the replacement bumper has already been

“dry fit” and ready to install.
1. Park the Jeep on a flat, level surface and

set the parking brake.

2. With the bumper partially installed on to

the Jeep (mounting bolts slipped through the

holes in the Jeep’s rear crossmember, but

nuts not yet installed), temporarily install the

Rear Bumper Braces. Note that the braces

are in left and right configurations, some test-

fitting may be necessary to determine which

one goes on each side. When properly

placed, the opposing holes in the frame rail

side of the Brace will align with existing holes

in the side of the Jeep’s frame rails. Secure

the Braces in place by installing the nuts that

came with the bumper, but do not fully tighten

them at this time.

3. Find the existing elongated hole located

along the bottom surface of the frame rail

on each side, below the frame rail side bolt

lcations for the Braces. Insert one of the

provided nut plates through this hole, and

slide it up toward the bolt holes, with the

flat side of the nut plate against the inside

surface of the frame rail.

4. Insert a 7/16-14 Gr8 Hex Head Cap Screw

through a 7/16 Split Lock Washer and 7/16

Flat Washer, then through each hole in the

Brace and frame rail, and thread into the Nut

Plate inside the frame rail. Do this for both

hole locations on each side.
