Tool Box Step Installation Instructions

Part No’s: 171001, 171002 & 171004

1. Take parts A-G and assemble together as shown on Diagram A. Do not install the Final ½” x 4 ½” Bolt. Do not

tighten the bolts all the way; leave the assembly loose to make it easier to attach to your vehicle’s frame.

2. The recommended position for your Tool Box Step is in the middle between the front of the rear tire and the

front of the truck’s bed.

3. Take the entire assembly and slide it up around the frame of your truck. Refer to Diagram B. Part A will fit

between the frame and gas tank of your vehicle on the drivers side.

4. While holding the assembly in position, take the Final ½” x 4 ½” Carriage Bolt, and put it through Part A first

and then Part B. Make sure the square head on the carriage bolt is in the square hole in Part A.

5. Use the ½” washer and nylon lock nut provided and securely tighten this bolt to the frame of your vehicle.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that Part A and B are vertically straight, otherwise your step will not be level.

6. Make sure the Straight Pin is installed before the next step.
7. Go to each bolt and securely tighten each one, except for the Swivel Bolt.
8. You should tighten the Swivel Bolt only as tight as to be able to move Part D, E, and F from left to right. Make

sure Part D, E, and F does not move to easily. There should be some drag when you move these parts.

9. By removing the Straight Pin, you can move the step underneath your vehicle as shown in Diagram C.
10. To insure your step stays underneath your vehicle, be sure to re-install the Straight Pin as indicated in

Diagram C.

11. Repeat the above instructions for the other side.
12. Your Tool Box Step is ready for use.
