INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
for
JKMSP0709 MUFFLER SKID PLATE
Please read and understand all instructions before beginning the installation of the Muffler Skid Plate. Please
read the terms and policies on the back of these instructions.
The JKMSP0709 Muffler Skid Plate is designed to fit the following Jeep® vehicles: 2007 to Current JK Wranglers
equipped with 6-cylinder engines (3.8L) and the OEM Exhaust system.
STEP 1:
Locate the 2 bolts that retain the inner bumper brackets and remove these bolts But not the
brackets. ( Figure 1 shows the bolts but not the OEM bumper brackets because it is an aftermarket bumper)
STEP 2:
Position
the Muffler Skid Plate over the muffler and reinstall the OEM bolts that you just re-
moved , Snug the bolts but do not tighten at this time. ( The bolts can be installed and accessed through the hole
in the skid plate, see Figure 2.
STEP 3:
Using a wood block and jack push the skid plate up until the front mounts contact the OEM
crossmember. Using the skid plate as a hole locator drill 3 holes through the OEM crossmember using a 7/16”
drill bit. ( See Figure 3,4 & 5 )
STEP 4:
Install the 7/16” Tab Nut from the D.S. of the crossmember and align with the middle hole that
you just drilled. Install the 7/16” bolt, lock washer and flat washer. ( See Figure 6 ).
STEP 5:
Install the other 7/16 “ bolts, lock washers and flat washers in the remaining holes and once all
the bolts have been started you can tighten. Go back and tighten the OEM bolts that you first removed. Your
done so go Jeepin !
