Instructions for WTB100 - DoubleJointed™ “Front” Trac Bar

CONTENTS:

1– Trac Bar 23” long
1– Heim Joint 3/4” L.H. thread with jam nut
1– Heim Joint 3/4” R.H. thread with jam nut
2– .125” Shoulder Spacers zinc plated (axle end)
1– 1/2” x 3” Grade 8 Bolt (axle end)
2– .3125 Shoulder Spacers zinc plated (Frame End)
1– 1/2” x 4-1/2” Grade 8 Bolt (Frame End)
2– Crimp-Loc nuts
1– 1.85” long x 1” diameter spacer tube (zinc plated)

Please note. There has been some confusion about where this trac bar mounts. It is
for the

front axle only

on Jeep® YJ Wrangler vehicles. Do not even think about install-

ing this on a XJ Cherokee, TJ Wrangler or on the rear of a YJ.

1.

Remove O.E. FRONT trac bar from vehicle, including mounting hardware and “U” bracket from

the drivers side of the frame. Also, remove and discard any aftermarket riser bracket (that had been
installed with aftermarket suspension lift kit) from the axle end.

2.

With a 1/2” bit in a power drill, enlarge the hole on the front axle to 1/2”. (It is metric size from

the factory).

3.

Install the 1.85” long x 1” diameter spacer tube into the frame bracket where the stock trac bar

originally mounted. This spacer tube will keep the bracket from collapsing.

4.

Install the Heim Joints into the trac bar. Remember, there are left and right threads, don’t

cross thread them!!! It doesn’t matter if the right threads go on the axle end or the frame end. Sand-
wich Heim Joints between both shoulder spacers. The thick (.3125”) spacers go on the frame end.
Mount the trac bar to the axle with the 1/2” x 3” bolt. Mount the bar

BEHIND

the O.E. bracket with the

1/2” x 4-1/2” bolt. Tighten both 1/2” bolts to 85 LB. FT. torque. Adjust the length of the bar by turning
the bar with a 7/8” wrench using the flats machined into ether end of the bar. Note: there must be at
lease 3/4” of the Heim Joint threads in the bar for proper strength!!! Tighten the jam nuts for the Heim
Joints with a 1-1/8” wrench by hand. Do not over tighten these jam nuts. Note: If you get a slight
amount of interference between the frame bracket and the Trac Bar, grind clearance on the frame
bracket until the Heim Joint and jam nut clears it.
