STEERING COLUMN “CHATTER” ELIMINATOR INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Turn steering wheel 180 degrees from normal driving position.

2. Install the 1” I.D. (larger) collar on the upper end of steering column center section, between the 2
“U” joints. Place the collar on shaft with 5/8” of space between the collar and the “U” joint. Using (2) ¼-
28 x ¾ socket head cap screws with nylon patch, torque to 12-13 ft. lbs.

3. Install the ¾” I.D. (smaller) collar on the lower end of steering column center section, between the 2
“U” joints. Place the collar on the shaft with 1 3/8” of space between the collar and the “U” joint. Using
(2) ¼-28 x ¾ socket head cap screws with nylon patch, torque to 12-13 ft. lbs.

4. Make sure the collars are properly aligned with each other so the holes, where the spring ends are
inserted, align with each other. There should be approximately 8” between the two collars.

5. Install the spring with coils closest to the upper collar allowing the straight uncoiled portion of the
spring to extend over the rubber boot. There must be tension on the spring for the STEERING
COLUMN “CHATTER” ELIMINATIOR to function properly.
