Pin-Plate™ Balancing System

Installation and Operating Instructions

with Parts Identification

Installation

1.

Attach the wall storage panel near the wheel balancer, using four (4) fasteners that
support a minimum of 75 pounds each. Use all four (4) holes, provided in the panel,
for attachment. Note: Before securing the bottom of the storage panel, hang the
pin storage basket on the bottom lip of the storage panel. See figure 1.

2.

Group the pegs by size in the basket.

3.

Hang the pin-plates on the storage panel hooks. Note: Extra hooks are available for
other special balancer adapters, such as Stud-Plates™ or truck cone kits.

4.

Hang the application chart on one of the storage panel hooks. See figure 2.

Pin-Plate™ Assembly

If the vehicle make, model, and year are known (steps 1-5):

1.

Look up the lug pattern and pin-plate™ number on the application chart.

2.

Select the specified quantity of the correct size pin. Determine the pin length
needed by the wheel center design and the pin tip shape needed by the lug hole
taper.

3.

Install the pins into the plate in the lug pattern holes.

4.

Begin with the numerically identified hole. Note its position in the pattern group
(example: 2

nd

hole) and place the remaining pins in the same hole of each pattern

group. See figure 3.

5.

Proceed to the operating instructions below.

If the vehicle make, model, and year are NOT known (steps 6-8):

6.

Install the hole gauge probes firmly into consecutive wheel lug holes and tighten
the lock screw. See figure 4.

7.

Remove the hole gauge and read the scale(s) that has the same number of lug holes
as the wheel. The back edge of the sliding probe lines up with a scale mark that indi-
cates the lug circle diameter. See figure 5.

8.

Find the plate with the indicated pattern and follow Pin-Plate™ assembly steps 2-5.

Operating Instructions

1.

With the wheel and tire assembly off the balancer, check to see if the pins mate pre-
cisely to the lug holes of the wheel.

2.

Select a centering cone that fits the wheel center-hole.

3.

Install the back cone spring and cone onto the balancer shaft.

4.

Hang the wheel on the cone.

5.

Install the Pin-Plate™ assembly by mating the pins with wheel lug holes.

6.

Secure the assembly to the balancer using the balancer’s hub-nut.

7.

Balance the wheel in the required manner.
