Calibration Procedure - KM820/V

Verifying Infra-Red Non contact thermometers

Insert the reference thermometer probe (e.g.

KM20Ref) fully into one of the holes in the Validator.

Allow the instruments to stabilise to environment

conditions.

Switch on both instruments after stabilisation

period.

Point the Infra-Red thermometer at the base of the

Validator while ensuring the nozzle is as far inside

the Validator cup as is possible. Note the variation.

(acceptable error 2.5°C)

Verifying Contact Thermometers

Insert the reference thermometer probe (e.g.

KM20Ref) fully into one of the holes in the Validator.

Insert the probe of the Instrument being verified

fully into the other hole in the Validator.

Allow the instruments to stabilise to environment

conditions.

Switch on both instruments after stabilisation

period.

Note the variation. The acceptance error will be

dependent on the specification of the unit being

verified.

Note: The time for the instruments to stabilise will be dependent on

the validator reaching its environment temperature, which at freezer

temperatures could be up to 2 hours.

Care must be exercised when handling the validator after

exposure to low temperatures.
