Resolution: 0.1° or 1° (selectable)

thermocouple

The sensor supplied is a stainless-steel Type-K

probe. Maximum temperature for this sensor

is 446 °F (230°C). Accessory thermocouples

are available for measuring temperatures

throughout the entire range of the unit (See

“Accessories”). Only Type-K thermocouples

may be used with this unit.
Longer leads and extensions may be used.

The lead effect for 164 feet (50 meters) is

generally less than 0.2 °C with a limit of error

of 2.2 °C. Type-K wire and connectors must

be used.

operation

Insert the thermocouple plug into the socket

located on the front of the instrument. The

plug and socket are keyed with a small and

large pin. Make certain the plug is inserted

correctly, do not insert the plug incorrectly and

force it.
Press the POWER button to turn the unit on.
Pressing the °F button will display the tem-

perature in Fahrenheit (°F will appear on the

display). Pressing the °C button will display

the temperature in Celsius (°C will appear on

the display).
Press the 0.1° or 1.0° button to select the

desired temperature resolution. (Note:

0.1° resolution can only be used when the

temperature being measured is between -50°

and 199.9°)
Place the thermocouple in contact with

the material to be measured and read the

temperature on the display.

Press the POWER button to turn the unit off.

To conserve battery life, always turn the unit

off when not in use.

holD

Press the HOLD button to “freeze” the display

at the current reading (“H” will appear at the

top left corner of the display). Press the

HOLD button again to return to the current

reading.

offSet aDJuStment (fine tuning)

By adjusting the offset control, found on the

front of the unit, the measurement accuracy

may be optimized for a particular thermo-

couple at a particular temperature.
While offset adjustments are possible

they will VOID with the factory calibration.

This unit has been calibrated Traceable

®

to

standards provided by the National Institute

of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Traceable

®

recalibration must be made by

the factory (See the “Warranty, Service or

Recalibration” section).

bench StanD/wall mount

The unit is supplied with a bench stand that

is on the back of the case. Locate the stand

on the back of the unit. With your thumb

and forefinger, lift the stand out. To close the

stand, simply snap it shut.
The unit may be wall mounted by using a

screw. Set the screw into the wall at the

all operational DifficultieS

If this unit does not function properly for any

reason, replace the battery with a new high

quality battery (see the “Battery Replacement”

section). Low battery power can occasionally

cause any number of “apparent” operational

difficulties. Replacing the battery with a new

fresh battery will solve most difficulties.

batterY replacement

Erratic readings, faint readings, no display

or a battery symbol appearing on the display

are all indications that the battery should be

replaced. Before replacing the battery, turn

the unit off and unplug the probe. Remove the

battery cover screw located on the back of the

meter and lift off the battery cover. Remove

the exhausted battery and replace it with a

new 9 volt alkaline battery. Replace the

battery cover and tighten the screw securely.
