INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELKHART “J” & "JN"

MYSTERY MASTER STREAM MONITOR NOZZLES

INSTALLATION:

Thread the inlet swivel onto the 2.5" NHT male discharge outlet of an Elkhart Brass monitor. Screw the swivel
down and tighten with a spanner wrench. Place the nozzle in the shut-off position exposing the stream pattern
markings (see operating instructions below), re-align nozzle so stream pattern markings are visible by the
operator if needed.

OPERATING:

Use the handles on either side of the nozzle tip to rotate the tip. Placing the nozzle in the shut-off position
requires rotating the nozzle tip clockwise until the tip is contacting the stem or baffle. (The shut-off position is
achieved using a metal-to-metal seal and some leakage is to be expected.) Turning the tip counter-clockwise
will open the nozzle and allow the flow to increase as the nozzle tip moves further from the shut-off position.
The first position reached is Straight Stream. This position is marked with a line on the nozzle body with SS
stamped to indicate Straight Stream. Align the back edge of the nozzle tip with the line on the nozzle body
marked SS, this is the Straight Stream position. As the tip is rotated counter-clockwise there will be two more
lines marked 30 for the 30-degree fog position and 90 for the 90-degree fog position. The nozzle can be
operated any where within the allowed tip travel from shut-off to wide open. Turning the tip clockwise will
change the pattern from Fog to Straight Stream to Shut-off.

INSPECTION

Inspect the nozzle at least monthly. Check the nozzle for any signs of damage or contamination from bird or
insect nests. Check the operation by turning the nozzle tip through its entire range of motion several times.
Grease if required (see Maintenance).

MAINTENANCE:

Turn the nozzle tip counter-clockwise until the nozzle is fully opened and lubricate the threads through the
grease fitting. The nozzle does not require much grease over greasing will cause the excess grease to flow into
the waterway of the nozzle. Use a lithium, multi-purpose grease. We recommend "Mobilux EP 2".
