4.0 OPERATION

1.

Release handle lock pin located under beam.

2.

The pump may be operated as a vented or a non-
vented pump. Turn the reservoir fill cap to the position
desired.

CAUTION:

Do not stand directly over the pump

handle. It is possible for the pump handle to "kick
back." Keep your body to the side of the pump and

away from the line of force of the handle.

3.

Open pump release valve by turning counterclockwise
one turn. Operate the pump using full strokes six or more
times as necessary to purge air from the pump circuit.

4.

Open pump fill cap and check the oil level. Fill (using
Enerpac oil only) to the indicator mark on the end cap.
DO NOT overfill.

NOTE: The P-2282 pump has a usable oil capacity of 60

cu. in.

5.

Close release valve by turning clockwise.

NOTE: Release valve is designed to close with hand

pressure only. Use of tools to close valve can
result in damage to the valve and/or valve seat.

6.

The pump may be operated from horizontal or vertical
position. In the vertical position, the discharge port
must be down.

7.

The P-2282 is a two stage pump. The shift from first to
second stage is automatic when the system pressure
reaches 200 psi.

8.

The P-2282 pump does NOT have an internal relief
valve. This necessitates the use of a gauge at all times.

NOTE: When designing a system to use the P-2282,

allow for oil compressibility. In low pressure
applications this is negligible, but as pressure
increases, oil will compress at a rate of
approximately 1/2% per 1000 psi.

5.0 MAINTENANCE

To check oil level in pump, open release valve to allow oil in
the system to return to pump. Remove fill cap. Add Enerpac
hydraulic oil until level with mark on rear cap. Do not overfill.
To function properly all hand pumps require air in the
reservoir. If the oil level is too high the pump will not operate.

If the pump is operated under dirty conditions, frequent
changing of the oil is recommended. Refill with clean
Enerpac oil.

Periodically lubricate the beam pin, cross pin, and piston
head.
