Overview

The Echo Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor is a ceiling mounted sensor that utilizes
passive infrared (PIR) technology, providing reliable vacancy and occupancy
detection for lighting control. The sensor provides automatic configuration of
vacancy (auto-off) or occupancy (auto-on/off) functionality based on other
connected control stations. When manual control stations are present, the
sensor will only perform vacancy actions.

Each sensor is available in white or black finish. Lens masks are provided to
allow customized occupancy detection fields as required by each installation.

Wire Specification

Sensors connect to the EchoConnect communication bus. EchoConnect is a
bidirectional protocol that uses one pair of wires (data + and data -) for both
data and power. ETC recommends using Belden 8471 (or approved equal)
Class II wire. The total combined length of an EchoConnect wire run (using
Belden 8471, or equal) may not exceed 1,640 feet (500m).

N o t e :

All control wiring should be installed and terminated by a qualified

installer and should follow standard wiring installation practices.

Leave approximately 10 inches (254mm) of wiring in the back box

for connection to allow slack for future service needs.

N o t e :

ETC requires that all sensors be grounded. Pull an additional 14

AWG (1.5mm

2

) wire for grounding when control wires are not

installed in grounded metal conduit.

The Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor provides 360
degree coverage of the installed location and is
available in three models:

E-OCC-SR- Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor with

small room lens covers 450 sq. ft. at 8 ft./
800 sq. ft. at 10 ft.

E-OCC - Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor with

standard room lens covers 1,800 sq. ft. at 8 ft./
3,000 sq. ft. at 10 ft.

E-OCC-HC - Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor with

high ceiling lens covers 300 sq. ft. at 10 ft./
7,000 sq. ft. at 40 ft.
