A FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL WILL BE HELPFUL IN PERFORMING THIS

INSTALLATION. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PERFORM THIS INSTALLATION IF
YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITY TO

COMPLETE ALL OF THE STEPS IN THE PROCEDURE;

CONSULT A TRAINED TECHNICIAN. IMPROPER

INSTALLATION COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY

OR DEATH.

STEP 2

Remove the stock taillights and disconnect the light connections from the

taillight bases. Save the stock fasteners as they will be used to mount the

new

taillights.

Küryakyn recommends the use of dielectric grease on
electrical connections.

STEP 3

Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical conector on the

plug and plug the connector into the taillight base in the location the OEM taillight

was

connected.

STEP 4

Clean the inside of the taillight base in the area of the gasket; dirt and other

contaminants will prevent the gasket from adhering to the base. Remove the

paper backing from the self-adhesive gasket and apply the gasket to the

taillight base on the fender. The extra flap in the gasket is designed to seal the

wire opening in the taillight base. If you normally drive in wet weather, you

may want to seal the wire opening with silicone or electrical tape for extra

protection.

STEP 5

Secure the new L.E.D. Taillight to the base using the stock Phillips head screws.

Tighten to snug only. Do not over-tighten.

STEP 6

Remove the seat and locate the H-D main wiring harness. PIC 1 Locate the 8-pin connector from

the main harness to the run-turn–brake controller. This is the input side of the controller, PIC 1,

and the 8-pin connector will have a RED wire with a YELLOW stripe. It should be located on

the left side under the passenger handrail. Disconnect the wiring harness, apply some of the

included dielectric grease to the connectors, and plug the Pulsating Brake Light Controller into the

ends of the main taillight harness.

Always install the Pulsating Brake Light Controller upstream (before) of

any existing multifunction control modules. Do not install the Pulsating
Brake Light Controller between a control module and the turn signals, as

this will overload any load equalizers that are connected to the Pulsating

Brake Light Controller. Overloading will damage the load equalizers and

may create a fire hazard!

STEP 7

Remove the Tour-Pak liner as outlined in the service manual. Set it aside for reinstallation.

STEP 8

Locate the 3-pin connector that powers the Tour-Pak lights. This should be located near the left
(sitting on bike) front side of the floor of the Tour-Pak. PIC 2 Unplug the connectors.

STEP 9

Locate the 3-Pin Accessory Harness from the hardware kit. Apply a little dielectric grease to the
large male connector and plug it into the Tour-Pak harness. Route the small female 3-pin
connector end of the Accessory harness through the rubber grommet, along the Tour-Pak wire
harness, to the Pulsating Brake Light Controller.

NOTE:

You may need to remove the grommet in the Tour-Pak that the wire harness passes

through to allow you to run the wire harness from the Pulsating Brake Light Controller

through it. PIC 2 Reinstall the grommet in the Tour-Pak.

STEP 10

Apply a little of the included dielectric grease to the small female connector and connect it to the
small male 3-pin connector on the Pulsating Brake Light Controller. PIC 3 and PIC 4
