Installation: Shovelhead Head Bolts & Washers
See Fig.1, below left. One side of the washer has a special chamfer. This provides clearance to the radius on the underside of the head
bolt.
See Fig. 2, below right. The chamfered side of each washer MUST face towards the head bolt fl ange as shown. Incorrect placement of
the chamfered side of the head bolt washers may cause the washers to crack and break resulting in the head bolts coming loose.
Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for complete reassembly procedures and torque specifi cations.
