ADAPT-A-DOOR INSTALLATION

1. Prepare wall for door installation

A. Check wall for adequate frame support. Add additional

support if necessary.

B. Wall and floor around door opening must be free from any

obstructions.

2. Installation procedures

A. See detail on reverse side for door opening requirements.
B. Thermal break is required on all freezer applications. Cut into

existing exterior wall to prevent condensation formation.

C. Seal back side of frame with 1/2” bead of non-hardening

caulking (silicone or butyl). Note: Door frame must be
sealed to prevent moisture from penetrating wood frame

and causing possible warping.

D. Insert door and frame into opening. Frame must be plumb,

level and square. (See Figure 2.)

E. Fasten frame to opening. See Figure 1 for recommended

fasteners and locations.

F. Check door for proper operation. Door should operate freely

without any excessive drag at bottom. Adjust if necessary.

G. Check door for proper seal. When installed properly, door

gasket should seat firmly against heater strikes. Adjust latch
strike or shim hinges as required.

I. Seal door frame thoroughly at edge of frame to wall juncture.

3. Trimming interior of door frame

A. Seal off void between frame and wall with insulation.
B. Install optional “mirror image” frame or trim. (See Figure 1

Vapor-seal interior frame as described in steps 2B and 2G.

4. Making electrical connections

A. Connect 120v., A.C., 60hz service to junction box on exterior

frame. Insure that the electrical service is properly

grounded.

B. Check door heaters for proper operation. When energized,

door and frame should feel warm to the touch.
