REPARE

THE

VEHICLE

With the vehicle on a solid level surface, chock the front and rear wheels and

apply the parking brake. It will not be necessary to raise the rear of the vehicle for
this installation.

Your vehicle is equipped with rubber jounce bumpers. The bumpers are

attached to a bracket on the frame directly above the axle. The bracket is riveted
to the frame and to an angle bracket beneath the frame rail. Remove the bolts
securing the angle bracket to the frame rail see Figure "B".

OF

THE

HEAT

SHIELD

Note: The use of a heat shield is required on the driver's side of the vehicle.

The heat shield will mount between the upper bracket and the air spring see Figure
"C"
. Position the heat shield between the nearest point of the exhaust pipe to the
air spring. Ensure that the heat shield will not interfere with the normal operation
of the air spring or the vehicle's suspension. Do not position the face of the shield
directly over the axle, as it may contact the axle on full suspension compression.

ASSEMBLE

THE

KIT

Pre-assembly will begin with the left (driver's) side of the vehicle. All pictures

depict the installation on the left side of the vehicle unless noted otherwise.
Select one of the air springs and install the push-to-connect air fitting in the air
spring and tighten securely. Thread sealant has been pre-applied to the threads of
the fitting so no additional sealant is required.

Select an upper bracket from your kit and insert the studs on the air spring

through the holes in the bracket. Secure the air spring to the upper bracket by
installing two 3/8" -24 flanged lock nuts on the studs see Figure "A".

Next, select a lower bracket from you kit and insert four 3/

8" -16 x 4-1/2" carriage bolts into the square holes. Align the
holes in the lower bracket with the holes in the lower plate of
the air spring. Orient the lower bracket so that the holes are
offset toward the inside of the vehicle. Attach the lower bracket
to the air spring with two 3/8" -16 x 3/4" hex bolts see Figure "A".

NSTALL

THE

ASSEMBLY

TO

THE

VEHICLE

Place the air spring assembly on top of the axle housing.

Extend the air spring upward so that the upper bracket is flush
against the inside of the frame rail see Figures "A" & "D".
Install two 3/8" -16 x 1-1/2" hex bolts through the frame rail and
upper bracket from below the frame rail and secure with 3/8" -
16 flanged lock nuts see Figures "A" & "D". Additionally,
secure the upper bracket to the vertical surface of the frame rail
by installing two 3/8" -16 x 1" hex bolts and 3/8" washers from
inside the frame rail. Secure the upper bracket to the frame rail
with two 3/8" -16 nut plates see Figure "A". After installing the
3/8" -16 nut plates, the arms on each plate can be bent or cut off.

Position the axle straps underneath the axle housing and

align the carriage bolts from the lower bracket with the holes in
the axle straps. Secure the axle straps to the lower bracket with
the supplied 3/8" -16 flanged lock nuts see Figure "D". When
securing the lower bracket to the axle housing, ensure that the
lower bracket is parallel to the upper bracket. Make sure that
the lower bracket does not interfere with any brake lines or axle
vent tubes on the axle housing.

N

OTE

: If your vehicle's differential is offset to the left, the

left-side lower bracket must be installed so that it sits on the
axle housing and butts against the differential housing. A larger
axle strap must be used to secure the lower bracket. The larger
axle strap will be installed around the differential housing
see Figure "E".
