2) You have already tested the colour synthesiser on a daylight image, so it should be
set up correctly for your camera. Enter the ‘Colour’ menu and click on ‘Synthesise
Colour Image’. Make sure that only the ‘Anti-Alias’ filter is selected and run the
synthesis routine.

3) The resulting colour image will probably look faint and dull, with a strangely
coloured background due to light pollution. The first operation is to correct the colour
balance and this is easier to do if you first lighten the background by applying a ‘Non
linear stretch’ to the image. This stretch is found in the ‘Contrast’ menu and has a
default value of 25, which is fine for present purposes. After the stretch, the
background will be very bright and the colour bias will be very obvious. Most light
