AS SEM BLY AND IN STAL LA TION

The LaMotte COD Heater Block is equipped with a voltage switch located on the
rear panel which allows this instrument to be used with 115V or 230V power
supplies.
ATTENTION! Before connecting the instrument to an electric supply, verify
that the voltage switch is on the correct position corresponding to the
supplied voltage. This instrument is normally delivered with voltage switch set at
the 230V position.

PROCEDURE

1. Select the correct voltage on the back of the instrument. Connect the

instrument to the power source.

2. Press the main switch located on the front panel to turn the instrument on. The

main switch will light up green and the temperature and time LEDs will remain
dark.

3. Press the Start/Temp key to begin a work cycle. The default settings are

150°C and 120 minutes, indicated by the corresponding green LEDs.

4. Press the Start/Temp key to select desired temperature. The LED will move to

the corresponding temperature.

5. Press the Time key to select the desired time. The LED will move to the

corresponding time.

6. Once the desired time and temperature have been selected, allow the

instrument to reach the selected temperature. The instrument will beep for 5
seconds once the selected temperature has been reached. After 5 seconds the
beeping will stop and the time LED will blink indicating that the timed cycle has
begun. It is possible to change both temperature and time until the selected
temperature is reached. Once the instrument reaches the set temperature and
the warning beep occurs, the timer will start and the time setting is locked.
Once the timed cycle is complete the instrument will beep for 5 seconds and
the heating element will automatically shut off. The Start/Temp and Time
LEDs will be dark during cool down.

7. When running multiple tests at the same temperature setting or at a higher

setting than the previous operating temperature, the heater block is ready for
immediate reuse. Begin a new work cycle by following Steps 3-6.
If the new temperature setting is lower than the previous operating
temperature, allow the heater block to cool below the temperature to be
programmed before continuing. When the heater block is sufficiently cool,
enter the new settings and begin a new work cycle by following Steps 3-6.

TROUBLESHOOTING

POWER INTERRUPTION
The COD block heater will treat any disruption in the power supply (e.g. black out)
as a manual shut off. Should this happen, restart the entire work cycle.

VERIFYING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HEATING BLOCK
The heating element in this instrument is manufactured to hold the selected
temperature while minimizing variations from the set point. The Pt100 temperature
probe maintains close control of set temperature and actual temperature of the
heating block. If verification is required, a thermometer may be inserted in the
opening in the heating block.

MAINTENANCE

Disconnect the instrument from the power supply before performing any
maintenance.
Periodically clean the instrument with a damp, non-flammable cloth and mild

detergent.
The heating block is equipped with two fuses enclosed in the power cable located
on the rear panel. If replacement of a fuse is required, remove the power cable

and open the cover with the tip of a screwdriver.
All repairs to the instrument must be made by authorized service centers. Contact

LaMotte Company for technical assistance. Repairs by non-authorized service
centers will void the terms of the warranty.
