MVS AUDIO INTERFACE BOX

The Audio Interface Box takes audio signals from
an optional microphone or line output and uses
the sound to modulate the stroboscope flash.
There is an internal free running oscillator that
can be used to add effects to the strobe and the
controls are described below.

The user can adjust audio sensitivity and free
running flash rate to create unusual stroboscopic
effects based on microphone input leves

NOTE: Certain flash rate frequencies can trigger
Epileptic seizures in people prone to this
condition.

The Audio Interface Box is powered by the MVS
Strobe.

There are 3 phone plug sockets to the left. These are:

STROBE - Output - Connects to the remote strobe, provides the trigger signal to flash the strobe (tip) and provides power from
the strobe to power the controller (Ring - 5Vdc). NOTE: There is a DIN connector on the rear of the box which is in parallel with
this front panel connector which can also be used to connect to the strobe.

MIC - Microphone input. This is for the optional electret condenser microphone or line input. The audio signal (tip) is amplified
by the controller. Power is provided to power the microphone (ring) but can be disabled using an internal jumper. NOTE:
Disbale the power if a line input is to be used.

EXT - Input - This is for an external frequency source used to free run the strobe. When a plug is inserted into this connector it
will disable the internal oscillator. The signal should be a 4 to 5V pulse. When using the MVS Frequency generator connect a
cable from the Pulse Out jack on the generator to the EXT input on this controller.

There are two sets of controls, the top row control the audio, the bottom row controls the oscillator.

SENSITIVITY - Controls the sensitivity (gain) of the microphone and functions like a volume control. Turning the knob fully
anticlockwise will mute the audio input. Adjust the sensitivity for the desired effect.

FILTER - This filter selects what frequency range of signals affects the strobe trigger. Select High (HI - treble), Midrange (MID) or
Low (LO -BASS). You will need to adjust the sensitivity when the filter ranges are changed. This is a frequency limited filter.

INTERNAL FLASH RATE - This control adjusts the free running flash rate of the strobe. The OSC control must be set at the ON
position and nothing must be plugged into the EXT input. To set the frequency the TRIG switch should be in the OFF position.

OSC - enables the internal (or external) oscillator when in the ON position, disables it in the OFF position

TRIG - Adjusts the mode of operation of the free running oscillator. When in the ON position the strobe will flash continuously
at the set flash rate and the output will be modulated by the audio. When in the OFF position, the strobe will flash at the preset
flash rate only when an audio signal is present.

PULSE OUTPUT LED - Mimics the output trigger to the strobe.
