Interpreting Current Arrows

Current is displayed as a transparent red arrow on the chart. The arrow points in
the direction the current is moving. Direction data is time based. This means that
this information is controlled by the system time on your PC. Incorrect system time
or date reduces the accuracy of current data.
Current arrow size shows you how strong or weak the current is. A large arrow
indicates strong currents; a small arrow indicates a weak or slow current.
Current speed is displayed as a number and unit on the chart next to the current
arrow (i.e. 1.5 kts, 5 MPH, and so forth). Speed units are determined from your
System Menu | Tools/Settings | Options | Units settings (MPH, Knots or km/h).
If you have the Display Screen Tips on Charts option turned on, hover the cursor
over any current station to see the name of the station and its associated speed
and direction value.

WARNING:

Tide & Current stations are shown in the exact location specified by

NOAA data; Lat/Lon coordinates of the stations are rounded to the nearest
minute. As a result some stations may appear to be on land.

Adjusting Current Arrow Size

If your boat is in an area where there are a large number of current stations, current
arrows can at times overwhelm the other information on the chart. In this instance,
you may want to make the current arrows smaller or bigger:

With Current Arrows turned on, right-click on any Current Arrow icon displayed
on the chart.
From the pop-up menu, select Arrow Size.
Use the slider bar to make the arrows larger or smaller.
When you are done, click anywhere on the chart to close the pop-up menu.

NOTE:

This option is only available for current arrows, not tide bars.
