TROUBLESHOOTING

NOTE:

For repairs beyond the minor adjustments listed above, contact your nearest Sears Parts &

Repair center (1-800-4-MY-HOME®) or other qualified service dealer for an adjustment.

C A U S E

A C T I O N

1. Old or improperly mixed fuel

1. Drain gas tank / Add fresh fuel mixture

2. Improper carburetor adjustment

2. Take to a Sears or other qualified service dealer

3. Fouled spark plug

3. Replace or clean the spark plug

4. Plugged spark arrestor

4. Clean or replace spark arrestor

5. Air filter is plugged

5. Replace or clean the air filter

C A U S E

A C T I O N

1. Empty fuel tank

1. Fill fuel tank with properly mixed fuel

2. Primer bulb wasn't pressed enough

2. Press primer bulb fully and slowly 10 times

3. Engine flooded

3. Flip throttle lever to FAST and pull starter rope

4. Old or improperly mixed fuel

4. Drain gas tank / Add fresh fuel mixture

5. Fouled spark plug

5. Replace or clean the spark plug

6. Plugged spark arrestor

6. Clean or replace spark arrestor

7. Red EZ-Fire™ Lever wasn’t flipped/set

7. Move lever to the starting position

8. The outside temperature is below 40º F

8. Pull the starter rope up to 10-15 times

9. The outside temperature is above 90º F

9. Move the throttle control to the fast position and pull

the starter rope with out moving the red EZ-Fire™ lever

10. Throttle lever is in the incorrect position

10. Refer to the Starting/Stopping instructions

ENGINE WILL NOT START

ENGINE WILL NOT IDLE

ENGINE WILL NOT ACCELERATE

ENGINE LACKS POWER OR STALLS

1. Air filter is plugged

1. Replace or clean the air filter

2. Old or improperly mixed fuel

2. Drain gas tank / Add fresh fuel mixture

3. Improper carburetor adjustment

3. Adjust according to the Carburetor Adjustments

3. Dirty air filter

3. Clean or replace the air filter

1. Bag full

1. Empty bag, as described in Empty the Vacuum Bag

2. Blocked tube

2. Clear the blockage as described in Clearing a

Blocked Tube/ Impeller

3. Blocked impeller

3. Clear the blockage as described in Clearing a

Blocked Tube/ Impeller

4. Damaged impeller

4. Take the unit to a Sears or other qualified service

dealer

UNIT WILL NOT BLOW OR VACUUM
