Coupling Two Racks

WARNING:

Never attempt to remove or install the rack doors by yourself. Due to

the size and weight of the rack cabinet doors, this procedure requires at least
two people.

WARNING:

You must install the front stabilizer feet on the front of the racks and

the outer sides, after the interconnect kit is in place.

1 Unpack and set up both racks.
2 Unpack the coupling kit. See Figure 24.

The contents of the rack coupling kit include:

One gasket strip

Four coupling brackets

WARNING:

All brushes supplied must be installed and the brush bristles must be

in contact with the floor to form a seal around the bottom perimeter of the rack
enclosure. Removing the brushes may reduce the cooling efficiency within the
enclosure.

3 Remove the doors and side panels from both racks. See "Removing the

Front Door" on page 10, "Removing the Back Doors" on page 11, and
"Removing and Replacing the Side Panels" on page 13.

4 Cut and place a segment of the gasket strip, with its protective backing

removed, on one of the racks. The gasket strip must be placed along the
frame surface to be in contact with the adjacent rack. See Figure 25.

NOTE:

Ensure that the gasket strip is not installed on the extension.

NOTE:

It does not matter on which rack you place the gasket strip segments

as long as they protect both racks from being scratched.
