Information Update

1-1

This document provides information on an initialization error when connecting a Dell™
PowerVault™ 136T tape library to a storage area network (SAN) running Computer
Associates

®

ARCserve™ Version 7.0 for Novell

®

NetWare

®

.

When you are running ARCserve 7.0 for NetWare in a SAN with both Fibre Channel ports
on a PowerVault 136T tape device connected to the same Fibre Channel fabric, ARCserve
might not be able to detect the tape device and generate an initialization error.

To correct the error, perform one of the following procedures:

• Connect one port in the PowerVault 136T Fibre Channel module to one Fibre

Channel fabric (recommended)

• Connect both ports in the PowerVault 136T Fibre Channel module to two Fibre

Channel fabrics

The following sections explain how to implement both solutions.
