Erasing a CD-RW Disc

Easily Free-Up Space on CD-RW Discs Using the On-Screen Burner Interface

CD-RW discs are convenient to use as data storage due to their “Re-Writable” properties. This means that data can
be written to a disc, then erased, so new data can take its place. To support this feature, this unit’s On-Screen Burner
Interface provides two ways to erase data on CD-RW discs:

Navigate to the Open / Close Icon

Use the RIGHT ARROW key to move to the icons at the bottom of the
screen. The RIGHT and LEFT ARROW keys are used to navigate to
an icon. Choose the Open / Close icon and press ENTER.

Insert a CD-R or CD-RW disc in the CD-RW drive. Press ENTER
again to close the tray. Notice the Disc Usage and Disc Type
indicators at the bottom of the screen. The Disc Type indicator
appears to the left of the icons and indicates the type of disc and
amount of free space. The Disc Usage Indicator appears at the very
bottom of the screen and gives a graphical representation of the
amount of disc space used. In the example below, an 8X CD-RW
disc is inserted with about 50% of its space used.

Quick Erase

The fastest way to free up a CD-RW disc for recording, this procedure only requires one minute to complete.
This method erases only the Table of Contents of the disc, making the disc appear empty and allowing its data
to be over-written. *If you wish to actually erase all the data on a disc, use FULL ERASE.

Full Erase

To make sure that all data on a disc is completely destroyed, use the FULL ERASE method. This procedure
takes about ten minutes to complete - much longer than QUICK ERASE - and is generally used only for discs
containing sensitive data.
