DC IN 6 V jack

Batteries

Insert four size C (R14) batteries.

Notes

• The unit cannot be operated on the operational batteries

(vhen the AC power adaptor or car battery cord is
connected to the unit.

• When the batteries become weak, the OPR/BATT

(operation/battery) indicator will glow faintly. In this case,
replace all batteries with new ones.

House Current

Connect the supplied AC power adaptor to the DC IN 6 V

jack.

Note on the AC power adaptor

Use only the AC power adaptor supplied. Do not use any

other AC power adaptor.

Polarity of the plug

12 V Car Battery

Connect Sony DCC-E160L car battery cord (not supplied)
to DC IN 6 V jack and to a car cigarette lighter.

Note on the car battery cord

For car battery operation, use the car battery cord
recommended for this unit. Do not use any other car
battery cord.

Troubleshooting Guide

The unit does not operate.

• The supplied AC power adaptor is not connected, and no

batteries are in the battery compartment.

• Batteries are installed incorrectly.

Cassette cannot

be inserted.

• Improper tape insertion. (Insert with exposed tape side

up.)

• ◄ PLAY is depressed.

Tape does not play when PLAY is pressed.

PAUSE is engaged.

• ПЕС cannot

be depressed.

• No cassette in the holder.
• The cassette inserted has its tab removed. If so, cover the

slot with plastic tape.

IFF or tete REW has been depressed.

No sound from speaker.

• An earphone is plugged in.
• The VOL control is turned down completely.
• The FUNCTION selector setting is incorrect.

Poor playback, recording or erase quality.

• Dirty heads. Clean the illustrated portions with a cotton

swab moistened with cleaning fluid or denatured alcohol.
