OVERVIEW:

This is an electronic ignition tachometer with the additional function of recording the previously
attained highest RPM. Memory is retained for 20 minutes or until erased. Toggle and pushbutton
switches are provided on the front lens for memory recall and erasing of memory.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

OPERATING VOLTAGE:

11-18 VDC

INPUT SIGNAL:

Ignitions using distributor and ignition coil. These units will not work with individual
ignition coil per cylinder systems.

PROGRAMMING RANGE:

4, 6 or 8 cylinder supported.

TRANSIENT PROTECTION:

Conforms to SAE J1810 specifications for steady state and electrical transient testing.

THIS UNIT HAS BEEN REVERSE POLARITY PROTECTED



INSTALLATION:

Make all connections to the tachometer before applying power.

Connect the tachometer wiring as follows:
Red wire:

Ignition voltage (Only has power when Ignition switch is ON).

Negative

ground

systems

only.

Black wire:

Ground wire.

Blue wire:

Ignition input. Connect to the negative ignition coil terminal or the “tach” output
terminal on the ignition coil (if applicable).

White wire:

Dashboard illumination.


CALIBRATION:


Setting a multi position slide switch to the number of cylinders configures the tachometer. The
switch is located under a plate on the rear of the unit and is accessible by removing two screws
(Refer to illustration).
Move the switch so that the switch handle is under the correct cylinder number shown on the
label.
The extra switch positions should not be used.
Replace the switch access cover and screws. Do not over tighten screws.
