Power Supply

The module power supply consists of two parts, management power supply (3V3_SUS) and
payload power supply (12V).

Management power supplies the Module Management Controller (MMC) as well as associated
circuits like temperature sensors, FRU Data EEPROM, voltage and current measurement cir-
cuits and Firmware Update Manager with associated memory.

Payload power can only be switched on if management power is present and the module is
safely inserted into the AMC slot (signal PS1# is active). Payload power is activated by the car-
rier board upon successful negotiation with the MMC.

The 12V payload power feeds local point of load DC/DC converters which provide the individual
payload voltages.

The following table shows the maximum current of the AMC module with XFP modules popu-
lated (each consuming 3.5W).

3.3.5

Reset

The reset logic is controlled by two voltage monitoring devices. Once the management power
is stable and the AMC is enabled by the base board, the IPMI reset is released.

The reset-signals for the PHY devices are released by the MMC after the AMC is activated by
the shelf manager and all payload voltages are ok.
