The shield of the ethernet cable is isolated to ground /earth at the LAN interface from PCIe Medical
LAN Card (Single or Dual).

Therefore the shield of the ethernet cable shall be connected to ground or earth on the peripheral side
(f.e. LAN- hub or ethernet-switch).

EMC disturbances as high frequent transients (Burst) have an influence of the LAN transmission
performance, because connected peripherals may be sensitive to such EMC signals. These influences
should be considered in the risk analysis from the medical device according ISO 14971 if connected.
