Quick Connector Cable Installation Instructions
This addendum describes the installation of the
optional quick connector cable for the IQ plus 355,
390-DC, 590-DC, and 420 Plus indicators. The quick
connector cable allows connection of the load cell
cable without opening the indicator enclosure. The
quick connector can be mounted in the drilled hole
used for the existing load cell cord grip without
m o d i f y i n g t h e e n c l o s u r e . U s e t h e f o l l o w i n g
installation procedure:
1. Disconnect indicator from power source.
2. Place indicator face-down on an antistatic
work mat. Remove indicator backplate screws
and backplate.
Disconnect power before removing
indicator backplate.
Use a wrist strap to ground yourself and
protect components from electrostatic
discharge (ESD) when working inside the
indicator enclosure.
3. Remove the load cell connector from the
header on indicator CPU board. Loosen
connector screws and remove load cell wires
from connector.
4. Remove ground wire from ground post
assembly on indicator backplate.
5. Loosen cord grip nut and pull load cell cable
through backplate. Remove load cell cord grip
hex nut from the inside of the indicator and
remove cord grip from indicator backplate.
6. Disconnect load cell cable from J-box.
NOTE: The quick connector cable comes in two
sections (one long and one short) and is used as a
complete unit. Do not cut the long cable except to
remove excessive cable length at the J-box. Never
cut or splice the short cable assembly.
7. Install gasket on the quick connector cable
panel socket and install socket into indicator
backplate. Install hex nut and tighten nut with
a 7/8" wrench. Figure 1 shows the installation
at the indicator backplate.
8. Connect the load cell cable to the load cell
c o n n e c t o r a c c o r d i n g t o t h e w i r i n g
configuration shown in Table 1. Reinstall load
cell connector onto header on indicator CPU
board.
NOTE: The quick connector provides 4-wire load cell
connection only. Jumpers JP1 and JP2 on the
indicator CPU board must be installed.

9. Connect ground wire to existing ground post
assembly on the inside of indicator enclosure.
10. Insert load cell cable into J-box and connect
wires in accordance with wiring code.
11. Secure load cell cable to the inside of the
enclosure with two cable ties.
12. Reinstall indicator backplate and torque
screws using the torque sequence shown in
the indicator Installation Manual. Attach
cable socket end to indicator backplate.
13. Power up the indicator and configure using
the indicator Installation Manual.
