INSTALLING A NEW AIR FILTER

See Figures 1 - 3.
n

Activate chain brake by pushing the front hand guard/chain

brake forward toward the bar.

n

Pull the choke lever out.

n

Remove the three screws holding the cylinder cover.

n

Lift the front of the cylinder cover past chain brake.

n

Before removing the air filter from the carburetor, blow or brush

as much loose dirt and sawdust from around the carburetor and

chamber as possible.

n

Remove the screw securing the old air filter.

n

Position a flat screwdriver between the tabs and twist to release

from the air filter base.

n

Lift the old air filter off the air filter base and discard.

n

Install the new air filter and reassemble the chain saw.

CAUTION:

Make sure the air filter is correctly replaced before reassembly.

Never run the engine without the air filter, as this may cause

serious damage to the chain saw.

INSTALLING A NEW SPARK PLUG

See Figure 4 - 5.

n

Remove the screws and cylinder cover as described previously.

n

Remove the spark plug cap.

n

Loosen the old spark plug by turning it counterclockwise with

45cc and 46cc CHAIN SAW TUNE UP KIT
AR46000

n

Remove the old spark plug.

n

Hand thread the new spark plug, turning it clockwise. Torque

spark plug to 150 in-lbs to secure. Then reassemble saw.

NOTE: Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug. Cross-

threading will seriously damage the cylinder.

The engine uses a Champion RCJ-4 with .025 in. electrode gap.

Use an exact replacement and replace every 50 hours of use or

more frequently, if necessary.

INSTALLING A NEW PRIMER BULB

See Figure 6.

n

Drain all fuel from fuel tank into a container approved for gaso-

line.

NOTE: Squeeze primer bulb several times to purge fuel from

carburetor.

n

Remove the screws and cylinder cover as described previously.

n

Turn the saw so that the primer bulb is facing you.

To remove the old primer bulb:
n

Depress latches on both sides of the old primer bulb and remove

it from base.

To install the new primer bulb:
n

Connect return line to the large fitting on the new primer bulb

and attach primer line to the small fitting.

n

Install new primer bulb onto the base, ensuring that it latches

securely in place, and reassemble the saw.

WARNING:

Check for fuel leaks after completing installation of primer

bulb. Any part that is leaking fuel is a fire hazard and must

be replaced or reinstalled immediately. If you find any leaks,

correct the problem before using the product. Failure to do so

could result in a fire that could cause serious personal injury.

INSTALLING A NEW FUEL FILTER

See Figure 7.

n

Turn the saw so that the fuel cap is facing you.

To remove the old fuel filter:

n

Place fuel line and new fuel filter into the tank. Make sure the

filter rests in the lowest point of the fuel tank.

n

Securely replace fuel cap.
