7.8 Viewing your Y-cam on a Mobile Phone

Y-cam is dedicated to providing easy to use IP cameras. In view of this we have made some changes to the way users can
view their cameras from a mobile phone.

1) View your camera via the specially designed /mobile extension
2) View your cameras live stream on your iPhone via /iphone extension
3) Use our free mobile apps available for popular smartphones

For some mobile phones you can simply access the standard web address of your camera and it will work fine

7.8.1 Using the /mobile extension

in the mobile web browser of your mobile phone.

You may be prompted for the cameras username and password depending on the settings of your camera. Once logged
in, you should see the following screen:

[Picture Live] – provides an automatically refreshing snapshot, which can be viewed on virtually any handset.

[3GPP Stream Live] - this will open the mobile stream of the Y-cam, and will try to play it on your cameras media player.

[Settings] - allows you to setup both the 3GPP stream and the Picture Live view. Please note that you need the admin
password to make any changes to these settings.

7.8.2 Using the /iphone extension

If you are using an iPhone, you can now access the MJPEG stream compatible with iPhone by putting “/iphone” on the
end of your cameras address –

7.8.3 Using our free smartphone apps

Y-cam has developed free smartphone apps for iPhone, Android, Symbian and BlackBerry. These are available as free
downloads from the Y-cam website

http://www.y-cam.com

and also from the associated devices App stores.

7.8.4 Troubleshooting with Mobile Devices

If you can’t view the camera from your mobile phone, please try accessing some of the demo cameras on the main Y-
cam website

http://www.y-cam.com

. If these work, your camera may not be properly configured.

Most mobile phones use Real Player for video streaming. As Real Player cannot handle Authentication, you will need to
Disable Authentication from the Settings page via the mobile login.
