After pressing the special connecting rivet into a Campagnolo

®

11-Speed Chain and

breaking off the pilot, Campagnolo

®

requires the end of the connecting rivet to be

“peened” or “deformed” to prevent chain failure. The precision-machined CT-11 is

used to accurately perform this critical process.

The CT-11 will not install or remove chain rivets. The Park Tool CT-4.2 Master Chain

Tool (or the previous version, CT-4) is required for rivet installation and removal.

Installation of Campagnolo

®

11-speed Chain

Determine proper length for chain, as recommended by manufacturer. When

removing links to shorten chain, follow the “Separation of Campagnolo

®

11-Speed Chain” procedures below.
Thread chain through derailleurs and onto sprockets. Join the two ends of

the chain together and insert pilot end of replacement rivet into assembled

chain link, starting from the inner side of the chain and passing through to the

outer side (Fig. 1).
Place assembled chain link into link pocket of CT-4.2 Chain Tool (Fig. 2).
Turn handle until pin of CT-4.2 is centered on chain rivet. Continue turning

handle until rivet is pressed into chain. When properly pressed into chain,

.1mm of rivet should be protruding from the inner side of the chain (Fig. 3).

Remove chain from CT-4.2. Snap pilot end from replacement rivet using pliers

or by using the round hole in the CT-4.2’s body (Fig 4).

Place assembled link into link pocket of CT-11 Rivet Peening Tool. Handle of

CT-11 should be positioned on the outer side of the chain. CT-11 pin should

face end of rivet where pilot was removed (Fig 5).
Turn handle until pin of CT-11 just makes contact with rivet. Turn handle with

moderate force approximately 3/8 turn until protruding end of rivet (where

pilot was removed) is deformed (Fig 6).
A tight link can sometimes develop during the installation process. To remove

the tight link, use hands and thumbs to flex the link back and forth slightly until

it pivots freely (Fig. 7).

Separation of Campagnolo

®

11-speed Chain

Select link of chain to be separated and place into link pocket of CT-4.2 Chain

Tool (Figure 8). Important Note: One link in a Campagnolo

®

11-speed chain

is stamped with a production number (Fig. 9). Never separate the chain at

this numbered link. The chain can be separated at any other link. Once a

rivet has been pushed out and replaced with a new connecting rivet, do not

separate the chain at this rivet again. The rivet in each link can be removed

and replaced by a new rivet only once.
Turn handle until pin of CT-4.2 is centered on chain rivet. Continue turning

handle to force rivet completely out backside of chain.
