Crown Race Puller

INSTRUCTIONS

A. Turn handle (ref. #8) until pressing disc (ref. #3) inside main tube

(ref. #15) will clear length of fork’s steering column. Turn plunger
bolts (ref. #13) until blades (ref. #11) are open enough to clear
headset crown race. Place fork into tube of CRP-2.

B. Each of the CRP-2’s three block/blade assemblies (ref. #12 and ref.

#11) can be independently positioned for optimal fit around the
crown race. To move position of block/blade assembly, loosen
set screw (ref. #9) on block with 4mm hex wrench. Rotate block
around base (ref. #16) to optimal position and tighten set screws.
MAX = 4 NM / 35 in lb

C. Tighten plunger bolts evenly (use witness marks on blocks) until

blades begin to wedge under crown race. Continue tightening
plunger bolts with 6mm hex wrench until blades are snug under
crown race.

D. Turn handle until pressing disc inside tube begins pressing on

top of fork’s steering column. Continue turning handle to fully
remove crown race.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPLACING BLADES

The CRP-2 blades (ref. #11) are necessarily thin and will wear or
become damaged with use. These are consumable parts and will
need to be periodically replaced (part #1155-3, three required).

1. Loosen set screw (ref. #9) with 4mm hex wrench and

remove block/blade assembly (ref. #12 and #11) from base
(ref. #16).

The CRP-2 is a precision tool for quickly and easily removing the headset crown race from the fork’s crown race seat and steering column.
The universal design works with 1”, 1-1/8”, 1-1/4” and 1.5 forks (suspension or rigid) with steering columns up to 430mm in length. Fits
crown races with outside diameters up to 64mm.

Notes:

It can be helpful to clamp the tube of the CRP-2 in a Park Tool Repair
Stand. This allows the CRP-2 to be held solidly and rotated, freeing
both hands for easier operation.

Some fork and crown race combinations have very little access for
CRP-2 to engage crown race. Some cosmetic scarring of fork crown
may occur on these forks.

2. Hold plunger bolt (ref. #13) with 6mm hex wrench and

loosen socket head cap screw (ref. #14) with 2.5mm hex
wrench to remove blade.

3. Attach new blade to block with socket head cap screw.

4. Attach block/ blade assembly to base of CRP-2 with set

screw.
