TS-25 Repair Stand

Mounted Wheel

Truing Stand

• Fits all Park Tool PRS-25 Repair Stands, as well as

PCS-10, PCS-4 and PCS-1 Repair Stands manufactured

after 2003 (identified by 37mm upright tube diameter)

• Works with 16” to 29” wheels

• Easy to install and use

INSTALLATION

a. Remove the two socket head cap screws on the back

of the repair stand’s top tube assembly using 4mm hex

wrench. Save nuts for reuse.

b. Mount wheel bracket (#12) on left side of top tube assem-

bly using 30mm socket head cap screws (#13) and nuts.

c. Install gauge (#7) and gauge spacer (#9) onto collar as-

sembly (#1 and #2) using knob and shaft (#10) and nut (#8).

d. Using quick release lever (#11), mount collar assembly

onto upright tube of repair stand. NOTE: The TS-25

includes an upright adapter sleeve (#3) for adapting

the hex-shaped collar assembly to the round upright

tubes on PCS-1, PCS-4 and PCS-10 Repair Stands. The

PRS-25 Repair Stand uses a hex-shaped upright tube

and does not require the use of the adapter sleeve.

SET UP

a. Inspect rim for cracks, bulges, and dents. Check for

broken or loose spokes, and for nipples that may be

rounded or rusted. Make sure hub is adjusted properly

and axle is not bent. Repair or replace parts as needed.

b. Lubricate each nipple if necessary. Clean excess

lubricant from wheel.

c. Use a spoke wrench properly sized to fit the wheel’s

spoke nipples. Park Tool Professional Quality Spoke

Wrenches are recommended.

LATERAL TRUING BASICS: CORRECTING SIDE TO SIDE ERRORS

a. Remove tire (if desired). Place wheel into “V” notch

of wheel bracket and lock with wheel’s quick release

or axle nut. Lever of quick release should be posi-

tioned on the side of the wheel bracket.

b. Position tip of gauge to sidewall of rim. Spin wheel slowly

and look for side to side wobbles. Locate largest wobble.

c. If rim wobbles to the right, tighten left side nipples

within area of wobble 1/4 turn. If rim wobbles to the

left, tighten right side nipples within area of wobble

1/4 turn. Spin wheel and note impact. Repeat as

needed to remove wobble. Note: If further tightening

could cause nipple damage or create uneven spoke

tension, similar results can be achieved by loosen-

ing the opposite side nipples 1/4 turn within area

of wobble (for example, if rim wobbles to the right,

loosen right side nipples within area of wobble).

d. Repeat procedure on other wobbles until wheel runs straight.

RADIAL TRUING BASICS: CORRECTING ROUNDNESS ERRORS

a. Remove tire. Place wheel into “V” notch of wheel

bracket and lock with wheel’s quick release or axle

nut. Lever of quick release should be positioned on

the side of the wheel bracket.

b. Position gauge to rest just under outside edge of rim. Spin

wheel slowly and look for areas where rim moves toward

gauge (high spot) or dips away from gauge (low spot).

c. If rim has a high spot, it needs to be pulled away from the

gauge. Tighten nipples within area of high spot 1/4 turn.

Check result and repeat as needed until high spot is removed.

d. If rim has a low spot, it needs to be pushed toward the gauge.

Loosen nipples within area of low spot 1/4 turn. Check result

and repeat as needed until low spot is removed.

e. Adjustments made to correct high and low spots

may have affected lateral true of wheel. Re-true as

needed until wheel is both straight and round.

PRE-STRESSING: RELIEVING SPOKE WIND-UP

After truing, spokes should be pre-stressed in order to

relieve spoke wind-up that occurs as nipples are turned. To

pre-stress, tightly squeeze parallel pairs of spokes all the way

around wheel. This may cause wheel to go slightly out of true.

If so, re-true as needed.
WHEEL DISHING: CENTERING RIM BETWEEN HUB LOCKNUTS

For a wheel to perform properly, it is important for the rim to

be centered between the locknuts of the hub. When the rim is

centered, a wheel is properly “dished”. To check this, and to

make precision adjustments, a wheel dishing gauge such as

the Park Tool WAG-4 or WAG-5 is recommended.
To avoid damage, remove TS-25 from repair stand before fold-

ing for storage or transport.
