I. Introduction

Model WEBS-PA-2A Area Paging Units are designed to mount on a wall or pole, for use with a WEBS-ZPS as
part of an analog Wide-area Emergency Broadcast System. The amplifier requires 120VAC, 60Hz, with 48 watts
maximum power consumption.

II. Wall

Mounting

The Area Paging Unit is held to the wall with 4 #10 screws. Remove the cap, then remove from the front wrap
from the back mounting plate. Install two #10 screws in order to hold the top section of the back plate to the wall.
Note that the screws should be located so that the Area Paging Unit will be at the desired height and in the
correct position to receive any conduit connections.

Mount the back plate on the wall using the two keyholes on the top rear of the unit to the two screws mounted to
the wall. Install two additional #10 screws of the appropriate type in the holes in the lower portion of the back
plate. Tighten all four screws.

III. Pole

Mounting

For pole mounting, model ETP-PMKT Pole Mount Kit is recommended to strap the unit to a pole. Model ETP-
PMKT-TOOL
is the required tool. Other banding solutions are also available.

IV. Wiring

Electric power and the paging line can be brought into the unit in one of two ways:

1. There are two large openings in the back of the unit to allow the unit to be mounted over a flush

mounted standard electrical outlet box and/or flush mounted telephone connector box.

2. There are two conduit openings available on the bottom of the unit for connection of power and/or

paging line.

Install conduit to hole(s) in bottom of unit, if this method is being used, and bring power line and/or paging line to
inside of unit.

The amplifier and horns are installed prior to shipment. Simply connect the tip (green) and ring (red) wires
(grounding is also desirable) to your line coming from the WEBS-ZPS or WEBS-ZPM-9 Zone Paging System, and
then re-attach the front wrap and cap.

V. Programming

Program the Amplifier as shown in the WEBS-ZPS manual. The amplifier volume level is pre-set but you may
adjust as desired with a flat-head screwdriver. If you are mounting the Area Paging Unit high off the ground for
broadcasting over great distances, be extremely careful before turning the volume up—ear protection is
strongly recommended.
The Area Paging Unit is capable of reaching sound levels well above 110dBA.
