Assembling the FM-2G

Chances are your antenna arrived assembled. However, you
should go through the following procedure to ensure that it is
ready for permanent installation.

First of all, make certain that the whip is held fast within the
loading coil. While it is unlikely that it will be loose, you can
check this by holding onto the loading coil with one hand and
tugging firmly on the whip with the other. If the antenna arrived
disassembled, or if the whip has since been removed, or found
to be loose during the above test, do the following. Insert the
thickest end of the whip (opposite the static ball end) in the top
of nickel-plated resonator post. Push it down until it bottoms.
Tighten the set screw at the right side of the resonator until it
just touches the whip. Tighten the set screw on the left as tightly
by hand as the allen driver will allow. Do not use pliers, etc.

The FM-2G will arrive with the both the 'L' bracket and the
Connector Adaptor loose in the same package as this instruction
sheet. Referring to Fig.1, reinstall the 'L' bracket supplied as
shown by first removing only the ring nut from the threaded
portion at the base of the coil housing. Then slide the L bracket
back onto the threaded portion as shown in the diagram.
Reinstall the nut, tightening it against the bracket about a 3/4
turn past finger tight. Install the Connector Adaptor onto the
threaded portion of the base connector. A little beyond finger
tight is OK.

(TIP: Smear a little lithium grease on the threads of the
Connector Adaptor to maintain conductivity and protect against
moisture entering the connection.)
