Selecting TV screen type Selecting digital output
Select the TV aspect, conventional size screen (4:3) or wide­
screen (16:9), and the TV type according to your TV set.

At the initial settings screen (on page 30)
Tilt the joystick (A, T) to select “6 TV As­
pect” and press SELECT.

pect and press SELECT.
1 4:3:
Select when a conventional TV set is connected.
(Factory preset)
2 16:9:
Select when a wide-screen TV set is connected.

Tilt the joystick (A, ▼) to select the TV type
and press SELECT.

The following TV types can be selected in both cases.
1 Standard (Direct View TV):
Select when a standard TV (Direct view) is connected.
(Factory preset)
2 CRT Projector:
Select when a CRT projector is connected.
3 LCD Projector:
Select when a LCD projector is connected.
4 Projection TV:
Select when a projection TV is connected.
Setting is finished and the initial settings screen is displayed.

Select the digital output to be output from the optical/coaxial
digital audio output connector of the player.

1 LPCM 96k->48k:
To select whether digital audio converted to 48 kHz/
16 bit is output from the optical/coaxial digital audio
output connector or no digital audio is output during
playback of DVDs recorded in 96 kHz Linear PCM.
(If the DVD is recorded in 48 kHz Linear PCM, digital
audio converted to 48 kHz/16 bit is output irrespective
of the setting.)
2 Dolby Digital:
To select the signal format (Bitstream or PCM) to be
output from the optical/coaxial digital audio output con­
nector during playback of DVDs recorded in Dolby Dig­
ital (AC-3).
3 dts:
To select the signal format (PCM or Bitstream) to be
output from the optical/coaxial digital audio output con­
nector during playback of DVDs recorded in dts.
