Troubleshooting

When trouble occurs, check the following points before returning the player for service.

Possible Cause

Solution

Turn on the

POWER switch,

but nothing
appears on the
display.

AC adaptor is not plugged into

the outlet or DC IN jack

correctly.

Plug in the AC adaptor

correctly ( P. 13).

The alkaline batteries or

rechargeable battery are/is not

installed correctly, or dead.

Install the alkaline batteries/
rechargeable battery properly,

charge the rechargeable

battery or replace with new
batteries ( P.13,14,16).

The data of

CD-ROM is not

transmitted to
your computer.

The PCMCIA cable or PC
card is not connected to the
player or to the computer
properly.

Properly connect the

PCMCIA cable or PC card

P. 17).

The SCSI cable is not
connected to the player or to

the desktop computer properly.

Properly connect the SCSI

cable.

There are duplicate SCSI ID

numbers in computer system.

Set different SCSI ID
number for each device in
your system ( P. 34).

The software is not installed

correctly.

Install the software correctly

( P. 20).

PCMCIA cable pin is bent or
broken.

Contact an Authorized

Panasonic Service Center.

The terminator switch of the

player is set to OFF.

Turn the terminator switch

ON ( ï^P. 34).

You cannot listen
to sound.

Headphones are not

connected.

Connect the headphones to

the PHONES jack firmly

( P. 25).

VOLUME control are set to “0”.

Set the VOLUME control to a
higher level.

Transmission
speed of data
slows down.

Using the alkaline batteries/

rechargeable battery with

computer.

Use the AC adaptor.

The notebook computer has

entered the power
management mode.

Set the CPU speed of the

notebook computer faster in

power management or use

the AC adaptor.

Disc cover can
not be opened.

The Lock switch is slid toward
the rear of the player.

Slide the Lock switch to
opposite direction.
