Selecting digital output

Select the digital output to be output from the optical or coaxial digital

audio output terminal of the player.

(Display examples are from DVD-RV80.) ■

1 PCM Down Conversion

Select whether to output audio on DVD recorded in 96 kHz
linear PCM as is (No) or to convert it to 48 kHz for output

(Yes).

2 Dolby Digital

To select the signal format (Bitstream or PCM) to be output

from the optical or coaxial digital audio output terminal

during playback of DVDs recorded in Dolby Digital.

3 DTS Digital Surround

To select the signal format (PCM or Bitstream) to be output
from the optical or coaxial digital audio output terminal
during playback of DVDs recorded in DTS Digital

Surround.

To select whether DTS Digital Surround bitstream is output
from the optical or coaxial digital audio output terminal or

no digital audio is output during playback of DVDs
recorded in DTS Digital Surround.

When “1 PCM Down Conversion" is selected

(Factory preset)

No digital audio is output during playback of DVDs
recorded in 96 kHz linear PCM.
• If the DVD is recorded in 48 kHz linear PCM, digital audio

converted to 48 kHz/l6 bit is output irrespective of the
setting,

•Audio will be output using the original audio recording

system if the DVD has not been copyright-protected.

During playback of OVDs recorded in 48 kHz or 96 kHz
linear PCM, digital audio converted to 48 kHz/16 bit is

output.

(Digital output of PCM audio is restricted to 48 kHz/16 bit or

below for copyright protection.)

1 Bitstream*2 (Factory preset)

Dolby Digital bitstream (1ch-5.1ch) is output during

playback of DVDs recorded in Dolby Digital.

2 PCM

Digital audio converted to 48 kHz/16 bit PCM (2ch) is
output during playback of DVDs recorded in Dolby Digital.
