CP660 (120 V, 60 Hz models)

The amplifier shall be a solid-state six-channel model employing a dis-

creet-component power design with high-current metal output transis-

tors.
Each amplifier channel shall have the ability to operate individually,

or paired with another channel in a bridged configuration to provide

increased output voltage over that of an individual channel output.
Front panel controls shall include a rocker switch for selecting power

on and off. Rear panel controls shall include a rotary control for each

channel to adjust input level, and a switch for each pair of channels to

select Dual or Bridge modes of operation.
Front panel indicators shall include a green LED for each channel to signal

audio output; a yellow LED for each channel to signal audible distortion in

the output; a green LED to signal that the ampifier is turned on and power

is applied; a red LED to signal when the maximum operating temperature

of the amplifier is exceeded. This LED shall remain illuminated until the

amplifier has returned to a safe operating temperature.
Rear-panel connectors shall include a three-terminal barrier block for

each channel for balanced input connection, and a pair of color-coded

5-way binding posts for each channel for output connection.
The amplifier power requirements shall be 120 VAC at 60 Hz. A NEMA

5-15P type AC line connector shall be provided on the attached AC power

cord.
The amplifier chassis shall be constructed of steel with a durable black

finish. The amplifier front panel shall include a Lexan

®

overlay and air

filter media behind a detachable grille. The amplifier shall employ a cool-

ing system consisting of internal heat exchangers, along with a variable-

speed cooling fan which shall operate according to internal thermal

demand. Airflow through the chassis shall be from front to rear.
The dimensions of the amplifier shall allow for 19 inch (48.3 cm) EIA

Standard (RS-310-B) rack mounting. The amplifier shall be 3.5-inches

(8.9-cm) tall, and 12.75-inches (32.3-cm) deep behind the front rack-

mounting surface.
Center of gravity of the ampifier shall be 6 inches (15.2 cm) behind the

front mounting surface, and 7 inches (17.8 cm) in from the outer edge

of the left rack ear. Shipping weight of the amplifier shall be 25 lbs.

(11.4 kg).
The amplifier shall be protected against shorted, open or mismatched

loads; overloaded power supplies; excessive temperature; chain destruc-

tion phenomena; input overload damage; and high-frequency blowups.

The amplifier shall protect loudspeakers from input/output DC, large or

dangerous DC offsets and turn-on/turn-off transients.
Input Impedance of the amplifier shall be nominally 20 k ohms, balanced;

nominally 10 k ohms, unbalanced. Input Sensitivity shall be 0.7 volts

for standard 1-kHz power at 8 ohms. Output Impedance of the amplifier

shall be less than 32 milliohms. DC Output Offset shall be less than ±50

millivolts.
The power amplifier shall meet or exceed the following performance

criteria. Output Power in Dual mode: 130 watts, one channel/one load at 4

ohms; 90 watts, one channel/one load at 8 ohms; 100 watts, 4 channels/4

loads at 4 ohms; 70 watts, 4 channels/4 loads at 8 ohms; 75 watts, 6

channels/6 loads at 4 ohms; 60 watts, 6 channels/6 loads at 8 ohms in

Dual mode. Output Power in Bridge mode: 250 watts, 2 channels/one

load at 8 ohms; 200 watts, 4 channels/two loads at 8 ohms; 150 watts,

6 channels/three loads at 8 ohms. Frequency Response: +0/–1 dB from

20 Hz to 20 kHz at 1 watt. Phase Response: ±15 degrees from 20 Hz to

10 kHz at 1 watt. Signal to Noise Ratio, A-Weighted: Better than 100 dB

below rated 1 kHz power at 8 ohms. Total Harmonic Distortion (THD):

rated power, 0.3% or less true THD. Intermodulation Distortion (IMD):

(60 Hz and 7 kHz at 4:1) Less than 0.25% at rated power to 35 dB

below rated power at 8 ohms. Damping Factor: Greater than 250 from

20 Hz to 400 Hz.
The amplifier shall be designated the Crown CP660.
