Tank

To remove/replace the tank:

1. With the engine turned-off, relieve hydraulic pressure

from the system by moving the lever on the control
valve through it’s full range of travel.

2.

Place a suitable container, large enough to hold all of
the oil from the reservoir, under the suction hose.
See Figure 7.1.

3.

Remove the dip stick.

4.

Loosen the hose clamp on the suction hose using a
5/16” wrench.

5.

Remove the suction hose and drain the tank.

6.

Remove the engine and pump.

Vertical shaft engines:

6a.

Remove the engine and the pump by following
the procedures described in Chapter 2: Engine
and Pump.

Horizontal shaft engines:

6a.

Disconnect the high pressure hose from the
pump using a 15/16” wrench. See Figure 7.2.

6b.

Remove the four engine mounting screws using
a 9/16” wrench.

6c.

Lift the pump and engine off of the splitter as
one assembly.

Hydraulic fluid under high pres-
sure can be dangerous. A high-
pressure hydraulic fluid leak or

spray can penetrate the skin. If this happens,
seek immediate medical attention to reduce the
risk of blood poisoning, which can lead to death
or limb amputation.
