The UltraWave Series controller arrives from Kistler-Morse with the specified PCBs installed. However, you can
expand your system. There are three positions on the motherboard of the controller that accept PCBs. Note the
following restrictions on PCB positions in the controller:

Position 1:

2-, 4-, or 8-channel Scanner PCB only

Refer to Appendix E and follow this procedure to install an optional PCB into the controller:

1. Open the door of the controller.

2. Turn off the UltraWave Series controller — the AC switch is in the upper right corner of the PCB.

3. Place the PCB in the designated position on the motherboard. Be sure the PCB connector inserts

completely into the motherboard connector.

4. Secure the PCB in place with the three screws supplied with the PCB.

5. Connect the field wiring to the PCB.

6. Restore power to the controller. Close the door. Installation is complete.

If you change a 2-, 4-, or 8-channel Scanner PCB on the controller, you must use the Enable functions in the
Service Menu to bring the new channels on-line. Refer to

Menu Descriptions

for the use of those functions.

The UltraWave Series controller has two modes of operation:

• Channel Monitoring — level (or other indication of vessel contents) is displayed. Channel monitoring has

two submodes:

— Auto/Scan displays information on each channel sequentially.

— Manual/Hold displays information on one channel.

The Up and Down Arrow Keys are used to manually scroll to other channels. Pressing the Scan/Hold Key
switches between Auto and Manual Modes.

• Menu Operation — system parameters for display, input/output, calibration, and troubleshooting can be

viewed and modified. Pressing the Menu Key while in Manual Mode accesses Menu Operation. Pressing
the Scan/Hold Key switches between Auto and Manual Modes.
