Operation

Operating the Instrument

Adjusting the Load

Place your hand on the roller carriage with thumb and

forefinger over the roller closest to the scratching tool

Apply sufficient downward pressure so that the end of

the scale arm is lifted off the surface into an approximately

horizontal position

While maintaining downward pressure pull the roller

carriage in the direction opposite the scale arm

Example:

Adhesion = The force required to scrape a path through the film,
when the stylus begins its motion on an uncoated portion of the panel

Scratch Hardness = The force necessary to cut through the film to the
substrate.

total load = (100 X 15) + (25 X 7) = 1675 grams
