INSECT BITES/STINGS (bees, hornets, wasps etc)

Carefully remove the sting. Clean and disinfect the area of the sting as you would for a wound.

In case of allergic reaction, illness, significant local swelling or a sting in the mouth or throat,

CALL

THE

DOCTOR.

WOUNDS

Rinse the wound with water, checking that no foreign bodies remain. Disinfect the wound with

antiseptic and cover it with a bandage. In case of infection (reddening, pain, fever) CALL THE

DOCTOR. If it is a deep wound, do not disinfect it and never attempt to remove the foreign body.

Apply a sterile dressing, press and secure the bandage tightly with tape. CALL THE DOCTOR.

If there is significant bleeding from the wound, apply pressure immediately with the palm of the

hand, protecting yourself by wearing a glove, using plastic film or a pad. Lie the victim down,

ALERT THE EMERGENCY SERVICES, apply hand pressure until help arrives.

NOSEBLEED

Keep the patient’s head upright and apply pressure to the upper part of the affected nostril. If

bleeding persists, CALL A DOCTOR.

TETANY

An attack of tetany is a succession of spasmodic muscular contractions.

Remove other people. Reassure the victim and help them to breath slowly and deeply. If the

attack persists, CALL A DOCTOR.
