Operating the Polar Block

To turn the unit on, press and hold the Power Key ( ) for one second; upon power start
up a display test is run to demonstrate that all display components are functioning
properly. To power down the system, press and hold the Power Key ( ) for two or more
seconds until the unit powers off. The Polar Block is rated to work at temperatures
between ambient and -15

°C to -19°C. For optimum performance, the Polar Block should

be operated in a cool, dry environment.

The Polar Block is capable of continuous operation, however it is recommended that the
unit be turned off and defrosted if substantial frost build up occurs on the block or in the
well, see section 8.1 Cleaning. After defrosting and cleaning the Polar Block it is
important that you only place clean, dry blocks into the well to avoid future difficult
removal of frozen blocks from the system.

Warning:

If your lab is subject to long term power outages, it is recommended that

the Polar Block not be used for long term storage. Remove the block from

the unit and store in an appropriate laboratory freezer.
